Assalamualaikum Warahamathulahi Wabarakatuhu
Grey or White hair that appears on the head or bead of a believer is a blessing of ALLAH the Most-compassionate. This Grey or white hair would shine as a Noor (light), in the hereafter. And plucking or cutting that is not allowed, it would be as if cutting or plucking the Noor off the face. Each grey or white hair is a Light on the believer bestowed by Allah the Most-powerful and it would give good deeds and wash off the bad deeds.
Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-‘As (Radhiallahu’Anhu): “The ALLAH’s Apostle (Salallahu’Alayhiwassalam) said: Do not pluck out grey hair. If any believer grows a grey hair in Islam, he will have light on the Day of Resurrection. (This is Sufyan’s version). Yahya’s version says: Allah will record on his behalf a good deed for it, and will blot out a sin for it. “ [Abu Dawood, Book 33, Hadith # 4190]
And the white or grey hairs must never be left un-dyed. Because it’s like imitating the Non-Muslims. Hence, one must dye his/ her hair with henna or any other dye which is not black. Prophet Muhammad (Salallahu’Alayhiwassalam) forbids the believer from dying the hair in black color, because it’s also a way of imitating Non-muslims as well as it would show one so young. The grey or white hair is given to a believer as a reminder of death, it would remind him/her that they are close to death and would eventually make them to perform more good deeds and prohibit bad deeds. And only those people who engaged in battles were given permission to dye their hair black, to fool the enemy and show up themselves as young and strong. Those who use black dye, would not smell the fragrance of Paradise (Jannah).
Narrated AbuDharr (Radhiallahu’Anhu): “The ALLAH’s Apostle (Salallahu’Alayhiwassalam) said: The best things with which grey hair are changed are henna and katam. “ [Abu Dawood, Book 33, Hadith # 4193]
Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas (Radhiallahu’Anhu): “The ALLAH’s Apostle (Salallahu’Alayhiwassalam) said: At the end of time there will be people who will use this black dye like the crops of doves who will not experience the fragrance of Paradise. “ [ Abu Dawood, Chapter 33, Hadith # 4200]
So, never pluck or cut the grey or white hair. And keep dying the hair with henna (It’s sunnah) or with any other natural dyes that is not of black color. Each and everything that ALLAH the Almighty has provided us, has it’s own benefits, which could only be understood by the knowledgeable one.
